Eighth graders went on their first Social Studies field trip yesterday. We spent the day touring the freedom trail with an 18th century costumed interpreter. My group stopped at the site of the Boston Massacre as well as the South Meeting House where we learned that 5000 people attended a meeting there to discuss what we now know as the Boston Tea Party. We learned about pirates and privateers. We even heard a ghost story! At the very end of the tour we paid our respects to Paul Revere, John Hancock, Ben Franklin's parents and the victims of the Boston Massacre at the Granary Burial Ground near the Boston Common. The day was beautiful and the students were very well behaved. I enjoyed it. Hope they did too.
